 India Increases Budget for Space Research | Science and technology

Union Budget 2026-27 allocates ₹13,416.20 crore for the Department of Space to give a fillip to indigenous research. Among the key proposals are the setting up of two state-of-the-art telescopes in Ladakh, namely, the National Large Solar Telescope and the National Large Optical-Infrared Telescope, besides upgrading the Himalayan Chandra Telescope. This is expected to lessen dependency on foreign observatories and also put an end to the scientific brain drain from the country.

The Doomsday Glacier | Geography

  • The Thwaites Glacier in Antarctica is a key indicator of sea-level rise in the near future.

  • It is the ice shelf that acts as a support brace to slow down ice movement into the sea.

  • However, global warming is causing water to melt the foundation of the ice, causing an acceleration of the glacier.

  • If it collapses, global sea levels are expected to jump by half a meter.

Intern Felicitation Program (Feb 27th or 28th tentative)

The institution will organise a felicitation program for the legal interns who have completed their one month long internship at the Centre for Law and Legislative Research. On the same day, research paper prepared by the interns will be presented. Esteemed Judges from Delhi High Court and Supreme Court will grace the ceremony as Chief Guests.
